Hardware / Hi hat optical controller: stolen and patented
« Last post by ignotus on July 24, 2017, 03:31:28 AM »
Hi,

It's been quite a few years since I was active here, and activity seems to have ground to a halt... Anyway, this is for Admir: following a topic over on the vdrums forum, it seems there's a company (ATV) that's releasing a "new" hi hat controller that uses an optical sensor setup identical to the one you posted all those years ago. After some research, it seems that the patent "owner" is Alesis, who patented it in 2011. I've looked it up, and you published your idea back in 2005. For all I know, you were the first to come up with the idea and made it public, meaning that Alesis shouldn't have been able to patent it - but challenging a patent costs thousands of $$ and they know it, so they have effectively stolen your idea and claimed it as their own to profit from it... I know that doesn't stop anyone from DIY-ing their own controllers, but it sucks when someone selflessly shares an idea like you did only to have it stolen and patented by a big corporation...

Hope all is well with you!

Off-Topic / What's the status of edrum?
« Last post by zoggynog on June 13, 2017, 05:18:03 PM »
So, What ever happened to edrum?  I notice the forum is pretty much dead as of 2015.  Has work ended on this?  Admir move on to other things?  Would be cool to see some sort of announcement post to update returning fans of the project.

I'm 99% sure there are no components in it -just traces- and that it does nothing. It's just there to connect the piezos to the jack instead of wiring them directly to it.

Links Actualizados
http://nerds.de/en/download.html
http://audiomidi.chaoticbox.com/

Hardware / edrum circuit board
« Last post by 56belair on February 14, 2015, 06:46:51 PM »
I've build an edrum successfully. I converted an Stage Custom with Roland heads on the toms and a Hart head on the snare. I'm using just a piezo.

I noticed inside the Roland kits, the nicer ones, the Piezo connects to some circuit board before it goes to the 1'4" female connector. Does anyone know what the circuits are doing?

Please advises

Hardware / Desperately seeking definite partslist for ED248USB
« Last post by audiomobster on January 09, 2015, 05:13:01 AM »
Hi Guys,

This forum seems near dead and I'm starting to get really desperate finding a parts list for the ED248USB. Is http://www.edrum.info/schematics.html relevant for ED24 and which parts are missing. http://www.mikes-elektronikseite.de/edrumprojekt.htm where I would expect to find some info is a dead link.

Please,

Uli  :'(
